Κτηνιατρικής Διεύθυνσης, κ. Αλεξανδρόπουλο, Διευθυντή Κ.Α.Φ.Ε, κ. Ντουντουνάκη και τον Andrea Gavinelli, Head of Animal Welfare Unit of European Commission, απέστειλε η Π.Φ.Π.Ο. με αφορμή ένα διαρκές και χωρίς τιμωρία έγκλημα εις βάρος των ζώων.

Αξιότιμοι κ. Υπουργοί
Ένα διαρκές και χωρίς τιμωρία έγκλημα εις βάρος των αδέσποτων ζώων λαμβάνει χώρα σε όλη την Ελλάδα χωρίς κανείς να αντιδρά.
Πρόκειται για τα δημοτικά κυνοκομεία, όπου χιλιάδες ζώα σαπίζουν αβοήθητα,παράνομα έγκλειστα για χρόνια μέχρι να πεθάνουν – ο νόμος προβλέπει προσωρινή παραμονή, στείρωση και επανένταξη ή υιοθεσία και όχι δια βίου εγκλεισμό, όπως κάνουν πολλοί Δήμοι-, χωρίς περίθαλψη, μέσα σε άθλιες συνθήκες διαβίωσης και με Δημάρχους παντελώς αδιάφορους για την αθλιότητα την οποία εν γνώσει τους τις περισσότερες φορές συντηρούν ενώ παραβιάζουν και καταστρατηγούν συνεχώς τη νομοθεσία.
Εικόνες ντροπής σε όλη την χώρα, εικόνες μας τριτοκοσμικής χώρας , εικόνες αθλιότητας αλλά και θλίψης για όσα διαδραματίζονται στο σύνολο σχεδόν των δημοτικών κυνοκομείων, με ελαχιστότατες εξαιρέσεις.
Το έγκλημα διαχρονικό.
Η αδιαφορία και η αναλγησία διαχρονικές.
Με την πρόσφατη κυβερνητική αλλαγή ελπίσαμε σε κάτι καλύτερο αλλά η κατάσταση εξακολουθεί η ίδια και βαλτώνει όλο και περισσότερο λόγω και της οικονομικής κρίσης.
Σαν πολίτες αυτής της χώρας κατανοούμε απολύτως τις πρωτόγνωρες δυσκολίες αυτής της κυβέρνησης αλλά ο τόπος και η κοινωνία έχουν ανάγκη πια μιας άλλης γραφής στα θέματα των ζώων από την Κυβέρνηση.
Ζητάμε λοιπόν να δοθεί άμεσα εντολή στις αρμόδιες υπηρεσίες του υπουργείου σας αλλά και να ζητηθεί η συνδρομή των εισαγγελικών αρχών ώστε να κλείσουν αυτά τα Νταχάου ζώων ή να μετατραπούν σε απλά δημοτικά κτηνιατρεία.
Τα ζώα, όσα δύνανται, να επανενταχθούν, άλλα να υιοθετηθούν, να εμβολιαστούν, να αποπαρασιτωθούν, να στειρωθούν.
Να κλείσουν, τώρα, τα κελιά της δυστυχίας τους, να ενημερωθούν οι πολίτες , οτι εφοσον δεν σταματούν να τα εγκαταλείπουν οτι θα πρέπει να μάθουν να ζουν αρμονικά μαζί τους.
Δεν γίνεται οι Δήμαρχοι για να μην χάσουν τους ψήφους τους να συντελούν και να υποθάλπουν αυτό το έγκλημα του εγκλεισμού χιλιάδων ζώων ,ενώ οι εμπλεκόμενες αρχές να παραμένουν απαθείς.
Να οδηγηθούν στην δικαιοσύνη όσοι ευθύνονται για τις πράξεις και τις παραλείψεις τους όποιο αξίωμα και αν κατέχουν.
Δεν γίνεται στην Ελλάδα τη Ευρώπης να διαπράττεται αυτό το διαρκές έγκλημα κατά των ζώων και ΟΛΟΙ οι αρμόδιοι να αδιαφορούν.
Ζητάμε μέσα στους επόμενους δυο μήνες να έχουν κλείσει όλα.
Τα δημοτικά κυνοκομεία δεν μπορούν να συντηρηθούν ακόμη και αν υπήρχε η βούληση των Δημάρχων, που δεν υπάρχει.
Άμεσα πρέπει να μετατραπούν σε δημοτικά κτηνιατρεία, όπου τα ζώα με την δωρεάν συμβολή των εθελοντών κτηνιάτρων που προβλέπει η νομοθεσία μας να στειρωθούν και να επανενταχθούν.
Είμαστε σίγουροι , οτι θα λάβετε υπόψη σας τα όσα αναφέρουμε και θα προβείτε άμεσα σε εντολές για την ανακούφιση και απελευθέρωση των ζώων, των οποίων η ζωή στα δημοτικά κάτεργα είναι τραγική.

Dear Madame Public Prosecutor,
Dear Ministers,
A constant and unpunished crime against the stray animals is taking place all around Greece without anyone to react.
We refer to the municipal kennels, where thousands of animals are rotting helpless, illegally imprisoned for years until they die – the law provides for a temporary stay, neutering and reintegration or adoption rather than a lifelong confinement, as many municipalities do – without care, in squalid living conditions and the Municipal Authorities totally indifferent to the abjection in which knowingly most of the time sustain while constantly breaking and circumventing the law.
Pictures of shame across the country, pictures of a third world country , pictures of misery and sadness for what is happening to almost all the municipal kennels with very few exceptions.
The crime is timeless.
So are the indifference and the callousness.
With the recent Government change, we hoped to something better but the situation continues to be the same and it stagnates more and more due to the economic crisis.
As citizens of this country, we absolutely understand the unprecedented difficulties of this Government but the country and the society have the need of a different approach to the animal issues by the Government.
We therefore ask you to give direct orders to the responsible directorates of the Ministry as well to request the assistance of Public Prosecution authorities to shut down these animals “Dachau” or transform them to simple Municipal Vet Clinics.
Those animals that can be reintegrated should do so, others to be adopted, vaccinated, de-wormed and neutered.
Let’s shut down, now, the cages of their misery, let’s inform the citizens that if they don’t stop to abandon them, they will have to learn to live in harmony with them.
It is not acceptable for the Mayors, on the fear of losing votes, to aid and abet this crime of caging thousands of animals, while the concerned authorities remain unresponsive.
Let’s bring to justice those responsible for the acts, or lack thereof, at any office and rank they possess.
It is not acceptable for a European Greece to commit this continuous crime against the animals and have ALL the responsible authorities to stay indifferent.
We demand to have them all shut down by the next couple of months.
The Municipal kennels cannot be subsisted even if there was the Mayors’ will, which is not.
The Municipal Kennels should be immediately transformed into Municipal Vet Clinics, where, with the provision of the existing legislation and the voluntary contribution of the volunteer veterinarians, the animals will be neutered and reintegrated.
We are sure that you will take into consideration all that we have mentioned above and that you will set in motion the directives to relief and release the animals whose life in the municipal prisons is tragic.
