the richest country in the world concerning spiritual and cultural wealth and property. Greece is the unique inexhaustible source of wisdom and spiritual beauty. Greece is the eternal source of philosophy, physics, mathematics, medicine, history, drama and comedy, art and architecture, music and athletics, literature and politics.
I realize with honor and pleasure the wealth of my country, every time I open a book of science, art or philosophy, written in one of the modern European languages or idioms. Thousands of Greek words, spring up from the pages. All the terminology is Greek, and the meanings, the philosophical background, the methodology have a strong, intense, lasting Aristotelian scent.
I realize with pleasure and honor the treasures of my country everywhere, anytime I look at the imposing buildings of the European and American metropolitan centers, where the Doric, Ionian and Corinthian columns are erected joining the earth with the heaven.
I feel very proud attending a lecture in one of the European Universities, listening the majority of the words being of Greek origin.
I feel very proud reading the books of literature, poetry and science, the dissertations and research papers of the intellectuals, doctors and scientists all over the world, which irradiate continuously the unextinguished fragrance of the Greek wisdom.
I feel at home in the Parliaments of every democratic country of the world and I see with my imagination Pericles, in gold ages, protecting the moral values and via morality the democracy and Kleanthis preaching for the spiritual elevation of the human being, the peace and tranquility of the public life, the respect and the kindness to each other, underlining that these values and worths construct the genuine background of democracy and the axis of a fruitful and beneficial collaboration in societies.
Greece is in a serious economic crisis now.
After the crisis the catharsis comes according to Greek tragedies. The crisis is temporal, the catharsis eternal.
